This is such a brilliant post, Norm. I fully agree with everything you said in there. Especially this line:
What happens when power becomes insulated from reality?
I've seen this happen in countries, companies, societies. In my view this is happening in many countries. The people is power are so disconnected with reality.
Take for example India, where the chief justice called an entire generation cockroaches. To me he seems completely disconnected with the reality of the people he's compared to an insect.
Thank you for sharing this, Norm. I feel this conversation is very important. 🙏🏻
Thank you so much. Soham. That means a great deal to me.
What keeps drawing me back to this question is that it isn’t really about any one country, company, or leader.
It’s about what happens when people become insulated from the consequences of their own decisions.
The farther decision-makers drift from reality, the more distorted the signals they receive and eventually they begin governing, leading, or judging from an echo chamber instead of the world as it actually is.
That’s why I think Eyes Wide Shut still resonates.
Beneath the mystery, it’s asking a timeless question: What happens when power no longer has to listen?
I appreciate you adding your perspective. These are conversations worth having because they apply far beyond any single example.
The real conspiracy isn't hidden rooms: it's the silence we all maintain when reality knocks. Insightful article. Thank you for mentioning me.
Thank you for this Norm
Oh you’re so welcome. I’m a Kubrick fan and fascinated by this movie.
Britt, thank you
